MEETINGS: General and Half Yearly at Kingswood and Hanham Royal British Legion, Regent Street, Kingswood, Bristol, as notified.

Committee meetings Third Monday of each month except March and August.

1990 has proved to be a reasonable year for this Branch, with all our regular functions being well supported by members and heir families.

Grenadier Day always gives a great satisfaction, when we always do well with our Cider Stall, which is very popular with members of the Association.

Our shooting team did well again by coming second to the Cheltenham Branch, and we will do better next time.

On Saturday 27th October 1990, the Branch held its Annual Dinner Dance at its new venue, the Kingswood Civic Centre, Kingswood, Bristol. This was attended by 91 members and friends. Our Guest of Honour was the President of the Association, Major General MF Hobbs CBE, who was accompanied  by his wife. He proved to be a most worthy speaker, giving news of the Regiment and the Association. Her also recognised several members present with whom he had served, and spent a pleasant evening relating old times. We were delighted to have in our presence Corporal  John Ray, one of the three Grenadiers of the 1st Battalion, who were injured whilst on exercise in Canada in July 1989. He was accompanied by his sisters Michelle and Deborah. During the evening our Guest of Honour presented a Skittles Shield to Peter Jeynes on behalf of Phil Hill who could not be present, for the highest score throughout the year. It was also nice to see Sgt Peter Cooper our Recruiting Sergeant taking part in the evening's activities and keeping us amused with his humour. The evening prove to be a great success for the Branch.

Sadly I have to report the deaths of the following members: 2606271 G Williams; 2624406 D Buchanan and Hon Member Alan Kett. To their families we send our heartfelt condolences.

We still have a trickle of welfare cases, with some of our members not enjoying the best of health and we wish them all a quick return to full health.

Finally, as always, my thanks go to the Headquarters for their expert help. Also to my President, Chairman and Committee for their support throughout the year.
