Annual Report published in the Gazette 1992 Issue No. 15
PRESIDENT: Captain J.W.H. Buxton
CHAIRMAN: K.A. Jones Esq.,
SECRETARY: J. Roach Esq.
MEETINGS: General and Half Yearly at Kingswood and Hanam Royal British Legion, Regent Street, Kingswood, Bristol. As notified. Committee meetings Third Monday of each month.
AS we come to the close of 1991, this year has been a successful one for the Branch, with many of our regular events being reasonably well attended by members and their families.
Grenadier Day was our greatest victory in winning that prestigious Boyton Cup after so many years of trying. Our winning tem was Sgt Paul Cooper, Cpl John Ray, John Thomas and Ray Cook, and to them we send our congratulations. Our Cider Stall still continues to be as popular as ever, making it a great money spinner for the Branch.
On Saturday 26th October 1991, 49 members including wives, attended our Buffet Dance held at Kingswood Civic Centre. Disappointingly the numbers were small, but it true Grenadier fashion, we had a great night. Our Guest of Honour was major Peter Lewis MBE, who was a rousing success with his repertoire of jokes and memories of the Guards Depot. Major J.S. Scott-Clarke represented the Regiment and the Association and gave a very informative report on events past, present and future. We were entertained by Ken Brain (a Coldstreamer I might add) on the organ, and a star Celebrity Comedy Magician, Miss Kennedy Rose, who enthralled us with her routine.
I regret to report the sad loss on members Messrs D. Box, N. Adams, H. Duddridge, E. Goddard, E. Wheeler, P.V. Pelly. To their families we send our heartfelt sympathy.
Finally I give thanks to my President and Committee for their help overt the past year and to Headquarters Staff, for their helpful advise.
