For the next two weeks, BFBS is bringing you a series of special features with the men and women from 12 Mechanised Brigade, as they prepare for their six month tour in Afghanistan. BFBS Reporter for Salisbury Plain, Shirley Swain, has been following the training journey of some of the Units involved and speaking to frontline soldiers about their experiences on previous tours. Shirley said: "I can't tell you how amazing it has been following our forces men and woman during the final stages of their Afghanistan training. They have been upbeat, funny, and incredibly professional - the camaraderie between them, the bond, is truly hard to describe. They have shared some amazing stories with me, at times, emotional; but always with some cheeky laughter mixed in. It makes you proud to be British, though the cold and the knee high mud during the many exercise locations has me questioning our climate!” Tune into BFBS to hear Shirley’s special features on 12 Mechanised Brigade every weekday evening, between 7pm-8pm (GMT).
